The GE Fanuc/VMC VMIVME-1128 digital input board is designed to read voltage from various devices.The signal can come from electronic switch circuits,standard logic circuits,mechanical switch contacts,relay contacts,Opto22 signal conditioning modules,or many other sources.The input can be configured to receive current absorption or voltage source signals.32 bytes,can be individually addressed on 8,16,or 32-bit boundaries.The board ID register is located at the basic address of the board.The control and status registers(CSR)are stacked above the ID register.Sixteen input bytes are located above CSR.Twenty jumpers establish the basic address of the circuit board.Another jumper is used for standard or short I/O access.
The basic function of this board is to sample external inputs(when the host accesses the board)and place the data on the appropriate data line of VMEbus.In other words,the board takes a snapshot of external data and boots it to the host through VMEbus.
