General Electric FANUC/SBSVIPC616 is a 4-6 VME industrial carrier that supports I/O,ID,memory,and interrupt functions. The 6U carrier provides mechanical installation and electrical interfaces from the VME backplane to 4 single width or 2 double width industries.A 50 pin ribbon cable is connected to the industry board I/O on the front panel.
VIPC616 VMEbus IP carrier is IndustriPack®Part of the modular I/O component family. As a load-bearing board,VIPC616 provides mechanical support and electrical interfaces for four single high industrial packaging or two dual high IPs.Supports input/output,memory,and interrupt functions.VIPC616 complies with VMEbus specification C.1(also known as IEEE P1014/D1.2 and IEC 821 buses)with a 6U or”double high”shape factor.Other VMEbus IP carrier boards have different functions, including 3U(single height)shape factor, onboard DMA,or other processors. The carrier board can also be used for other industry standard buses, including:;PCI,ISA(IBM XT/AT)bus,and Nubus(Apple Macintosh).VIPC616 complies with the IndustryPack logical interface specification. This ensures compatibility with various Industry Packs currently available and planned. Each IndustryPacks is connected to a 50 pin flat cable connector on the front panel of VIPC616.These four IP locations are commonly referred to as slots, identified by the letters A,B,C,and D.All IndustryPacks interfaces are compatible with locked right angle sockets. This arrangement provides inherent strain relief. The interface connector is directly installed on the VME board(not on the IP),providing a stable and reliable wiring system. The interface cable may be inserted or removed together with VIPC616 in the VME chassis.IP can be inserted or removed without interfering with I/O wiring. In addition to the front panel wiring, packages C and D are also wired to the VMEbus P2 backplane connector. This allows for more flexible wiring options in many chassis.IndustriPack I/O is mapped to VMEbus A16/D16 space.Support user and supervisor access,as well as read modify write(testing and setup)operations. The I/O size on each IP is fixed by the IP specification to 64 16 bit words. In addition, each IP has an identifier PROM that occupies 64 words. Therefore, the four IPs occupy 1024 bytes of the 64k byte”short I/O”space in VMEbus.Interrupts are fully supported by a simple yet powerful architecture. Each of the four IPs can generate up to two interrupt requests. These eight request lines are paired with seven available VMEbus interrupt request levels through a simple jumper block.Alternatively, user provided PLDs can be installed to perform any complex interrupt mapping. The six layer PCB structure can minimize EMI caused by conduction and radiation. The widespread use of CMOS logic reduces thermal and electrical noise while improving reliability. All splitters, sockets, and connector pins are gold-plated,ensuring long-term reliable service life.
application area
The VIPC616 SBS I/O module is widely used in various industrial automation control systems, such as petroleum, chemical, power, pharmaceuticals, etc.
