PMC-HS serial is a single-layer PMC that provides four high-speed asynchronous or synchronous serial channels for high-performance communication applications with spatial constraints.For synchronization protocols using external clocks,a maximum data rate of 10mb/s is supported.The asynchronous protocol supports up to 2mb/s and uses a standard 14.745 MHz oscillator(RS-422 interface mode)to provide a popular baud rate of up to 921.6 kilobaud.Each of these four channels is fully programmable to support many high-performance serial communication protocols,such as synchronous,single-phase,biphase,high-density logic,SDLC,Lap,Los Angeles Integrated System,Integrated Services Digital Network,and purchasing power parity.

The pmc-hs series supports a wide range of physical interface options and can be configured solely through software.Channels can be individually selected as RS-232,RS-422,EA-449,EA-530,or V.35.No hardware reconfiguration is required.Each channel has 7 pairs of signals,which can be connected to the rear panel P-4 connector and the front panel I/O connector.An optional transition cable can be used to interface the 68 pin front panel I/O connector to four DB225S.

The 14.7456 MHz standard oscillator provides a standard asynchronous baud rate.In addition,the oscillator position provided by the user can be used for custom baud rate generation.Each channel fully supports interrupts.Interrupt sources include transmission errors,reception errors,completion of transmission packets,and completion of reception packets
