The MTL831C EATON analog transmitter is mainly used to convert process measurement signals into standard electrical signals that can be received by the control system.

The MTL831C analog transmitter can transmit many hazardous area input signals to safe areas through a data highway composed of single shielded twisted pair cables.It is essentially safe,so it can be installed in Zone 0 hazardous areas or hazardous locations.MTL831C can monitor up to 16 inputs from THC or millivolt power sources,or 2,3,or 4 wire RTDs or potentiometers.Based on different applications,cables,and(noise)environments,a data highway is provided that can transmit signals and electricity over a distance of up to 2 kilometers.It is strongly recommended to use shielded twisted pair cables.At the other end of the data highway,the MTL838C receiver converts the information transmitted from MTL831C.One or two MTL831Cs can be connected to one MTL838C.MTL838C provides input*Modbus®Serial data output representation and status information.When the MTL831C transmitter is installed in a hazardous area,the data highway must be protected by an MTL5553/MTL5053 isolator/power supply installed in a safe area.
With Modbus®The output MTL830C analog multiplexer system provides a cost-effective alternative to single loop isolation.By communicating the inputs of multiple hazardous area sensors on a twisted pair data highway,the cost of installation and wiring has been reduced by 50%.Further savings can be achieved by reducing the number of inputs to the host,cabinet space,and weight.Analog transmitters installed in hazardous areas support thermocouples,RTDs,potentiometers,and mV analog inputs.Compatible secure area receiver provides serial Modbus®Output,used for feeding to the host PLC,PC,or DCS controller.There are two different models of transmitters,MTL831C with fixed screw terminals and MTL831C-PS with pluggable screw terminals(recommended for applications that require regular maintenance).
