EcoStruxure™FFoxboro™The DDCS field control processor 280(FCP280)is a distributed,optional fault-tolerant field mounted controller module.FCP280 performs regulation,logic,timing,and sequential control together with the connected Foxboro DCS fieldbus module(FBM).It also performs data collection,alert detection,and notification.FCP280 is connected to the Foxboro DCS control network via standard fiber optic or copper 100Mbps Ethernet cable via a network adapter installed on its base plate.FCP280 requires Foxboro DCS Control Core Services software v9.0 or higher.The Asystem with FCP280 and this software are called EcoStruxure Foxboro DCP process automation systems.
The optional dual cable backplane can support four PIO channels,but provides separate A and B bus connectors as well as dedicated connectors for optional time gating inputs.The fieldbus connection from the optional dual cable backplane to the standard or compact 200 series FBM requires separate A and B bus cables,as well as a dual”D”connection adapter(RH926KW)on the FBM backplane.
The number of FBMs supported by FCP280 varies depending on the type of FBM used:
Each fieldbus port on the 200 series FBM-FCP280 motherboard dedicated to FCP280 can be connected to the motherboard chain via a 2 Mbps HDLC fieldbus.Each chain can connect up to 32 compact or standard 200 series FBMs and up to 128 modules.
200 series and 100 series FBM(dual port configuration)used with FCP280.
FCP280 can support a total of 128 100 series FBMs(Y modules)or competing devices(such as Foxboro DCS system migration FBMs)in one or more backplane chains.The remaining limit of the 128 modules in FCP280 is 200 series FBMs,depending on the load of the FCP280 fieldbus.For example,FCP280 can support 64 100 series FBMs and 64 200 series FBMs(64+64=128).For counting purposes,the main FBM and the extended FBM are considered as two FBMs.In addition,no more than 64 100 series FBMs are allowed on each PIO bus/substrate port.
Note:Some competitive migration or supported third-party modules,such as EcoStruxure Foxboro DCS process automation system migration fieldbus modules and Pepperl+Fuchs™The II/O module can add a maximum of 128 modules per FCP280.Regarding the maximum number of migration/third-party modules supported by FCP280,
Note:The dual cable backplane does not support connection to 100 series FBM or equivalent competitive migration and third-party modules.
Note:Although FCP280 can communicate with the maximum number of FBMs(128),some limitations may limit the design of useful control systems,thereby limiting the number of FBMs that can be installed.When supporting 200 series and 100 series FBMs,each fieldbus port(PIO channel)is dedicated to supporting 268 Kbps HDLC fieldbus(for 100 series FBMs)or 2 Mbps HDLC fieldbus(for 200 series FBMs),rather than both.For the connection of the 100 series FBM,a pair of FBI200 is required to extend communication to 1830 meters(6000 feet).
Note:When replacing CP10,CP30,CP40,or CP60 with FCP280 and retaining all 100 series FBMs,it is necessary to install FBI200 between CP and FBM to reduce potential system messages.The fieldbus splitter(RH928CV)is used to directly connect fieldbus ports to the 268Kbps HDLC fieldbus.This provides a connector for any fieldbus port on the FCP280 substrate and two Terminal Cable Assembly(TCA)termination blocks for dual axis cables of the 100 series FBM.FCP280 can also communicate with serial and Ethernet devices(such as PLCs)through on-site device system integrators(special FBMs).This allows you to connect to new device interfaces without changing the controller software.
