The redundant PROFIBUS communication module(FBM222)provides an interface between the FoxboroEvo system and PROFIBUS-DP/PA slave devices,including motor drivers,I/O modules,and field I/O devices.FBM222 can be used in single or redundant configurations,and when using a repeater,it supports two PROFIBUSlinks with a maximum of 125 slave devices per port.FBM222 connects slave devices to a universal and robust FoxboroEvo control system through a Distributed Control Interface(DCI)block.
There are multiple ways to connect FBM222 installed as a redundant pair to the PROFIBUS DP network.When the PROFIBUS segment is a single network as shown in Figure 1,the FBM228/FBM222 redundant adapter(P0922RK)connects a single ended cable to the redundant pair.Insert the other end of the cable into the terminal assembly(TA),which provides a connection between two network segments.
