The 8502-BI-DP Bus Interface Module(BIM)provides a communication link between the 8000 series I/O modules and the Profibus DP host.It collects data at high speed from the module,with a LAN operation speed of up to 6Mbaud,enabling the host to quickly respond to the conditions during the control process.BIM collects data from input/output modules and provides it to the host upon request.It is a slave device of the Profibus master device.In addition to the cyclic data exchange required for reading input and writing output data,BIM also supports status information for Profibus Extended Diagnostics.It also supports some implemented special functions to allow for high integrity system operation and on-site maintenance
8502 supports parameterization of Profibus master devices.This is configured on a’per module’basis,where all channels on a single module have the same configuration.The configuration is created in the Profibus configurator using the detailed information provided in the GSD file.This method is fast and can build configurations based on”logical”modules representing physical modules.Add modules one at a time to the configuration and select parameters to apply to all channels of the module.The logic module can be selected to provide HART status and process variables in the Profibus-DP loop input telegram.In addition,for applications that require access to many HART variables,a HART”mailbox”can be used.This technology collects the required HART variables;Saves space for telegrams that are sometimes overloaded with data.This method is only available when using parameterization.At the beginning of the session,the configuration is passed from the Profibus host to BIMat.If the system stops and restarts,the configuration files will be retransmitted to BIM.
