The MVME172 series VME embedded controller is based on the MC68060 or MC68LC060 microprocessor.The I/O connection for the 400/500 series serial port is provided by two DS-25 front panel I/O connectors.This I/O is connected to the VMEBUSP-2 connector.The motherboard is connected to the transition board through a P-2 transition board and cable.The 400/500Mvme172 series supports transition committee Mvme412-12,Mvme712-13,Mvme712M,Mvme712A,Mvme712M,and Mvme712B.These transition boards provide configuration heads,serial port drivers,and industry standard connectors for I/O devices.The design of the Mvme712 series transition board is to support the Mvme167 board,but special precautions can be taken to use it on the Mvme172 board.
