Product Description
9907-149 Woodward’s ProTech 203 electronic overspeed trip device senses the speed of the prime mover through three magnetic sensors(MPUs).
feature
9907-149 is an electronic overspeed trip device produced by WOODWARD company, used to control the overspeed protection of steam turbines. This device monitors the speed of the steam turbine and triggers a trip when an overspeed situation is detected to protect the steam turbine from damage.
The 9907-149 WOODWARD electronic overspeed trip device adopts a modular design, including a speed sensing unit, control unit, and execution unit. The speed sensing unit is responsible for monitoring the speed of the steam turbine and transmitting signals to the control unit. The control unit determines whether the turbine is overspeed based on the received signal and triggers the execution unit to perform a trip operation if necessary.
The ProTech model 9907-149 is a 120 Vac/dc device. The three speed sensing units in this system all have a separate power supply. This is part of the modular design of the Woodward overspeed protection device, which can achieve functions such as hot replacement and testing of individual units without taking the prime mover offline.
The speed sensing units A,B,and C in the 9907-149 model are the same.In addition to having an independent power supply, these devices also have independent operator interfaces and alarm systems. These three units are configured as a three in two voting method. Before this hardware vote, the three units run independently, monitoring the speed of the prime mover through a magnetic pickup unit(MPU)and performing speed calculations separately.
The three units that make up ProTech model 9907-149 must be programmed using the same trip point. The programming mode can be accessed by connecting the key switch to all three units.Due to the modular design of the Woodward system, each unit is individually programmed.
When the device is in programming mode, adjustable parameters can be set. These parameters are:
Trip speed set point(250 rpm to 25000 rpm)
Number of MPU gear teeth(20 to 120)
MPU failure timeout(1 second to 533 minutes and 20 seconds)
MPU set point fault(100 rpm to 25000 rpm)
MPU fault trip
Timer starts on reset
If speed<MPU failure set point triggers an alarm
When the device is in monitoring mode, these parameters,as well as the current speed, peak speed, light test, and trip reason, can be viewed on the device operator interface. The current speed is the first parameter displayed by default.
application area
The 9907-149 WOODWARD electronic overspeed trip device is suitable for various situations that require controlling turbine overspeed, such as in industries such as power, chemical, and petroleum.
