Fbm216b Foxboro redundant Hart®The communication input module is used to receive and process the analog and digital signals of HART protocol,and transmit the data to the control system or upper computer software.

◦digital Hart frequency shift keying(FSK)signal superimposed on 4 to 20mA analog signal

The fbm216b HART communication redundant input interface module contains separate isolated input channels.It supports any combination of standard 4 to 20 maddevices and Hart devices(the signal is electrically compatible).

A pair of modules are combined to provide redundancy at the fieldbus module(FBM)level,and the field input is connected to a common terminal assembly(see Figure 1,page 4).In this configuration,one fbm216b is the main device and the other is the tracker.

Fbm216b can be used as the host of hartcommunications field devices and Foxboro can be enabled™DCS requests and receives two digital messages from the field device every second.The messaging function can be used to support Hart universal,general practice,and device specific commands,but does not support burst communication mode.These commands are implemented using Foxboro dcsfield device expert for Hart.

Fbm216b provides a separate isolated power supply for each of the eight channels.

Alternatively,the channel of this module can be powered by an external power supply.However,when a common external power supply is used with two or more channels,a cable balun module is required to help prevent hartcommunication channel crosstalk
