IC687RCM711B is a redundant communication module that provides a path for synchronous messages from active units to backup units.Then use it as a method for synchronizing dual CPUs in FIP single rack redundant systems.This also allows for the transmission of shared I/O data paths between two units.The actual physical connection between units of a FIP single rack redundant system can include up to three feet of interconnect cables.Compatible CPUs include IC697CFR782 and IC697CFR28.

The IC687RCM711B redundant communication module occupies one slot in the rack and contains two connectors.The upper connector is used to connect the bus transmitter module,while the lower connector is not used for this purpose.There are five green LED indicator lights that display the status of the RCM module’s operation.They also monitor the control status of the redundant system of the hot standby CPU.

The module also provides a button that allows users to manually switch control from the active unit to the standby unit.This operation is only effective when the backup device is available for use.This allows users to maintain previous activity units while the system is still online.After switching roles,a new switch cannot be completed for at least 10 seconds.This RCM must be configured into a FIP redundant system using Windows programming or MS-DOS software.This device requires a 5V bus with an effective data rate of 500 KB per second.
