The CI853-1 ABB communication interface module is designed to facilitate communication between various devices and systems.

COMLI can be used for both built-in COM3 ports and CI853 ports.RS-232C is a standard communication interface used for serial communication with COMLI.CI853 supports hot swapping.COMLI is the ABB protocol used for data transmission between controllers.

MODBUS RTU is an open serial(RS-232 or RS-485)protocol originating from a master/slave architecture that exchanges information in half duplex mode.The Modbus function can be configured on the COM ports of AC 800M and CI853.

The Siemens 3964R can be used for built-in COM3 ports or alternatively for CI853 ports.Standard RS-232C/485 communication channel is required.

Custom serial communication can be used for built-in COM3 ports(on AC 800M controllers)or for CI853 ports.

The CI853 module also supports hot swapping.

MODBUS RTU is a widely spread standard protocol due to its ease of use and reliability.Modbus RTU is an open serial(RS-232 or RS-485)protocol with a source autonomous/slave architecture that exchanges information in half duplex mode.The Modbus function can be configured on the COM ports of AC 800M and CI853.Module redundancy is not provided in MODBUS RTU.CI853 only supports the main mode in MODBUS RTU.
