The 3500/20 125744-02 BENTLY Rack Interface Module(RIM)is the primary interface of the 3500 rack.It supports proprietary protocols for configuring racks and retrieving mechanical information.The RIM must be located in slot 1 of the rack(next to the power supply).

RIM supports compatible Bently Nevada external communication processors such as TDXnet,TDIX,and DDIX.Although RIM provides certain functions that are common to the entire rack,it is not a critical monitoring path and has no impact on the correct and normal operation of the entire monitoring system.Each rack requires an RIM.

For the third mock examination Redundancy(TMR)applications,the 3500 system requires a TMR version of the RIM.In addition to all standard RIM functions,TMR RIM also performs”monitor channel comparison”.The 3500 TMR configuration implements monitoring voting using the settings specified in the monitor options.Using this method,TMR RIM continuously compares the outputs of three(3)redundant monitors.If TMR RIM detects that the information of one monitor is no longer within the configuration percentage of the other two monitors,it will mark the monitor as having an error and place an event in the system event list.
