In 1945,Westinghouse Electric Company signed an agreement with the China Resources Commission to receive more than 70 scientific and technological personnel from China to study and train.Among them were Chu Yinghuang,Ding Shunnian,and others,many of whom became the backbone of the development of China Electric Corporation.In the 1980s,China imported 300000 kilowatt and 600000 kilowatt steam turbine units from Westinghouse Electric Company and installed them respectively at the Shiheng and Pingwei power plants.

In 2006,Toshiba acquired a 77%stake in Westinghouse Electric Company from British Nuclear Fuel Co.,Ltd.for$4.16 billion,Shaw Group of the United States invested$1.08 billion to acquire a 20%stake in Westinghouse Electric,while Japanese shipbuilding company Ishikawa Shimbun Heavy Industries acquired a 3%stake for$162 million.Shortly thereafter,China and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding on nuclear power technology transfer in Beijing in December 2006.China introduced Westinghouse’s nuclear power technology and built four nuclear power units.In July 2007,China National Nuclear Power Technology Co.,Ltd.and the Westinghouse consortium led by Toshiba signed a$8 billion contract at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.On October 28,2022 local time,Polish Prime Minister Moravitsky confirmed that the country’s first nuclear power plant would be built by Westinghouse Electric Company in the United States.
